Esther & Mollie Spillman
In 1930, on the recommendation of the local B’nai Brith lodge, Katie Broundstein Spillman admitted her daughters Mollie (12) and Esther Rose (13) to the Home from Dallas, Texas. The girls had been born in Buffalo, New York, where their father, Isadore repaired shoes.
Esther remained in the Home until 1933, when she was discharged into the care of a Mrs. M. Clayman, under the auspices of the Dallas Jewish Federation. Mollie was discharged the following year into the care of Esther, now known as Estelle, who had married Julius Weltchek in Dallas. Estelle and Julius had two children, Irving and Sylvia.
In March 1941, following her divorce from Julius, Estelle admitted Irving and Sylvia into the Home. In December, Estelle married John Meserian in Pennsylvania. Four years later, Irving and Sylvia returned to their mother who had relocated to Detroit, Michigan. In 1947, Estelle, now known as Rose (and presumably divorced from John), married George Flevaris, with whom she had a son.
Following George’s death in 1975, Rose remarried. She died in 1981, recorded in the Social Security death index as Rose Creek, reflecting the surname of her fourth husband

As for Mollie, she married George R. Franke and lived in San Antonio, where in 1950 he worked as a waiter and she as a waitress. They had two children, Edith and George, Jr.
Mollie died in 2002 and was buried next to her husband in Mission Burial Park South.
